DLC is always in need of additional helping hands. We provide opportunities to volunteer during our regular scheduled programs and for special events. Volunteering is a chance for everyone to give back to their community, and the ability to grow and learn from others.

Want to join the DLC individual volunteer team (of all ages) Completing the volunteer form and help build successful citizens, families and community. Volunteering with DLC is fun, rewarding and also gives you a sense of community.

Benefits of Volunteering

·         Volunteering gives you a chance to share your knowledge and expertise with others.

·         Whether you are learning new skills, or developing the skills you already have, volunteering provides the opportunity for you to gain confidence and self-esteem.

·         Allows you to get involved in your community and make an impact on the lives of those in need. Volunteering will give you the chance to learn more about the community, society and environment in which you live.

·         Allows you to explore career options. If you are not completely sure that a certain occupation is the right fit, volunteering gives you a chance to learn more before making a commitment. Similar to informational interviewing or job shadowing, volunteering provides you with a chance to research the career alternatives open to you.

·         A great way to develop new skills. With some jobs, formal education or training may not be required, but employers desire you to possess certain skills. Volunteering is a way to develop skills that you can transfer to the occupation of your choice.

·         A way to gain valuable career-related experience. Some occupations will require you to possess a certain certificate or degree, but employers also want you to have experience. If you have the skills and education you need, volunteering can offer you the opportunity to apply these skills in a "real-world" environment and provide the practical experience many employers look for.

·         You will meet new people. This is Helpfu, and allows you to establish important networking contacts you might use to find a paying job or as a reference.

·         Volunteer positions can often involve a large degree of responsibility. This will allow you to exercise leadership, develop problem-solving skills and be creative.

·         Provides the opportunity to develop new skills and pursue new interests. Developing skills and learning new things are valuable iassets for personal use, as well as, further your career.
