Policies and Procedures
Note: This is a
synopsis of DLC policies and procedures. Complete policies and procedures
are documented in DLC’s
Parent and Student Handbook.

Amendments:
DLC policies and procedures are reviewed annually by
the board of directors. DLC reserves the right to change rates, amend,
update or change, any and all policies stated in DLC’s
Parent and Student Handbook.

Enrollment requirements:
Child/children enrolled in DLC are required to pay
for his/her slot even if the child does not attend, this also
includes of holiday absences.
DLC must receive the following Documents, completely
filled out, before courses begin:

Enrollment is classified as follows:
Full-time starts at exactly 4 ½ hours, or more
Part-time is fewer than 4 ½ hours a day
* Rates will increase for children with special
needs.
Examples........* if your child attends for exactly 4
½ hours this is considered full time. Part-time is fewer than 4 ½ hours. DLC
recommends that parents schedule their child for 4 hours, in order to be
qualified for part-time rates. Feel free to speak to a DLC administrator or
management for additional details.

Parents are urged to pick up their children in a timely manner.
DLC charges a
$1.00 per minute rate for late pick ups.
Late charges must be paid in full, prior to beginning the next course session.

PAYMENTS AND REFUNDS:
A one time $75
non-refundable, non-transferable fee is due at the time of registration. The
balance, for the remaining full/part time program cost, is due two weeks prior
to the first day of attendance. Payment is considered late, if it is made one
week prior to the first day of attendance, at which time, there will be a $15
late fee added to the tuition. If payment, including late fees, is not
received prior to the start date of the program, the child’s/children’s slot
will be forfeited. Payments may be made by check, cash or credit card (Visa,
Master Card or Discover). Returned check payments will be charged a $25 fee.
Individuals will forfeit the privilege of making future payments by check, if
two checks are returned for insufficient funds, in such cases, cash or
credit card payments will be required.
If a child’s registration must be cancelled from a program, for any reason,
written notice must be submitted to the billing office, at least one week in
advance. If written notice is not given at least one week prior to the start of
the program, the parent will bear responsibility for full payment for the
program. If a one week written notice is provided, a refund for the
remainder of the session (excluding the registration fee) will be made.

Holidays:
DLC will observe the following Holidays:
New Years Day, Fourth Of July, Thanksgiving Day and
the day after, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and the Day after. The center
will be closed for two weeks over the Christmas break. However, DLC will
consider providing extended or emergency care during Christmas break,
depending on the demand.
Note: It will be your responsibility to find
alternative care for your child on days the center is closed.

Facility:
Parents have access to center instructional areas
during operational hours.
DLC complies with the City of
Cedar Park Code of Ordinances and the City of Austin Non-Smoking Ordinance,
Section 12-5-4, which states that smoking is prohibited in public places.
Smoking is prohibited within the facility and within 15 feet of any
pedestrian entrance.

Supply List:
Appropriate clothing is required during the summer,
and winter seasons. Parents are encouraged to provide sun screen, as needed,
during the summer, as well as, appropriate clothing during periods of
inclement weather.

Safety and Discipline:
In the event that a child is unwilling to change
unacceptable behavior through discussion or redirection, DLC staff will
initiate time out. No corporal punishment will be administered, nor are
children to be shamed or belittled in any manner!!!

Meals and snacks:
DLC will provide health conscious meals to students.
DLC serves lunch during Holiday/Break/Summer camps. Healthy morning
and afternoon snacks are provided each day. Children are allowed to bring
their own snacks and lunches. A microwave oven will be onsite, in the kitchen
area, for reheating of meals, by staff members only.
Students are not allowed in the kitchen area unsupervised. Water
will be available and accessible at all times.
Additionally, if a child is on a
specific or restricted diet, or requires particular food items; DLC requests
that parents provide for the individual needs of their children.

Field trips and outings:
Field trips are planned in advance. Field trip
permission slips will be provided and signed by, parents or guardians, at
the time of enrollment. A field trip form is located in the enrollment
package. DLC employs insured and licensed drivers, and all vehicles have
been inspected to the highest safety standards.

Illness:
If your child is ill, or exhibits any of the
following symptoms, PLEASE KEEP THEM AT HOME::::::
1. Green mucous, or discharge from eyes or nose
2. Diarrhea (Associated with illness)
3. Fever 100 degrees or higher
4. Vomiting (within a 24 hour period)
5. Any other contagious illness or rash
6. Lice or nits
7. Pink Eye
8. Common Cold (If sneezing, coughing and runny nose exist)
Parents/guardians will be notified TO PICK UP THEIR
CHILDREN, as soon as, child/children exhibits any sign of an illness, including those mentioned above.

Medical Emergencies:
in the event of a medical emergency, DLC will perform one, or a
combination of the following (where appropriate):
1.
Administer first aid or CPR (by
trained and certified staff members)
2.
Call 911
3.
Contact parents or emergency
contacts
4.
Contact physician
In the event of an emergency, a child, or children
will be transported to the local hospital, via ambulance.
By law,
DLC cannot administer any prescribed medication, without a doctor’s
written authorization, which stipulates when and how to administer,
along with, properly labeled medication. Written permission from
parents/guardians is required, for the administration of any over the counter
medication (e.g., aspirin).

Disaster & Severe Weather Policy:
In the unlikely event of a natural disaster, DLC is
prepared and equipped with a disaster plan kit, to provide food, water and
any other essentials, necessary for safety and survival.
When severe weather, most often
ice storms or heavy rains [flooding], affects our area, DLC Management
will make a decision about the opening/closing of the center, and as soon as
possible, will inform all patrons, telephonically, of the cancellation, no
later than 7:00 AM.

When possible, we will also
place an announcement on our website as well as, a voice recording on the
center answering service. If in
doubt call the DLC management team.
Information and updates will be provided to DLC staff by DLC
management, as soon as, a decision is made.
Please be aware that as a
private educational facility, we may not adhere to the same rules for closure
as the public school system. DLC may choose to operate in certain instances
when public schools choose not to.
Be assured that safety is paramount to DLC and at no time will safety
be compromised, or children and staff be placed at risk.
In the event that DLC chooses to
operate, and your situation does not allow for safe travel to the center,
please feel free to keep your child at home.
If the weather worsens during the day, and students are not
dismissed early, parents are afforded the opportunity to pick up their
children at their discretion. In
the event of an ice storm (freezing rain or sleet), parents
can assume we will close the facility, as quickly as, all children
can be safely picked up. We do not offer childcare on days the
facility is closed due to extreme/inclement weather.

Faith-based Practices:
DLC is a faith-based, nonprofit organization. Every
patron of DLC will be exposed to Christian beliefs, Biblical songs, books,
arts and crafts, and Christmas Holiday celebrations. DLC respects all
religions, beliefs, faith, and culture; however, DLC will not promote any
other religion other than the Christian faith. Notwithstanding, DLC will
also include diversity activities, via books, materials, and arts and crafts,
and other limited exposure to other cultures and beliefs. DLC’s program,
services and activities are well-rounded and appropriate for all
individuals regardless of religious affiliation. DLC is confident that
patrons will be satisfied with DLC’s programs.
Furthermore, DLC will not seek to offend, or impress
Christian beliefs on any child/children. Thus, parents/guardian can
review DLC’s curriculum at any time, and opt to remove any Child/Children
from any DLC faith-based instruction or activity.

Discrimination:
DLC does not discriminate
against any child or adult on the basis of race,
creed, color, national origin, religion, disability, marital or veteran
status of the child or a family member.

Child abuse reporting:
By Law, DLC is required to report any suspected
instances of child abuse or neglect.

Notification/Information:
DLC will periodically notify and remind
Parents/guardians of important events, closures, child/childrens progress, via
DLC’s website, Progress Report, Newsletters, Letters, or documents. Parents/guardians are
encouraged to read the information stay informed. Please be sure to check the
children’s Cubbies weekly.

DLC requires each child be signed In/Out of
the center by a Parent/guardian.
At no time will a child be placed in the custody of any individual other
than the child’s Parent/guardian.

Lost/Damage Property:
DLC is not responsible for
lost or damaged property that children bring to the
center. Please leave IPODs, video games, toys etc. at home.

Behavior/Consequences:
DLC encourages self-respect and respect for others at
all times through the use of words that build up and not tear down another
person. Thus, DLC does not allow negative, degrading and hurtful language,
nor does it tolerate hitting, biting, bullying or unnecessary screaming.
Parents/guardians will be notified of
child/children’s behavior. If warnings have no effect, then DLC will move to
terminate child/children from DLC programs and/or services.

Animals/Pets:
No animals or pets are allowed on DLC’s premises or
on any field trips.
